The Department of Tamil was started in the year 2015 with three lectures and has grown to the strength of 120. The language paper is a part of the curriculum for the first four semesters for the arts courses and  the science courses.

The language is the backbone of communication, hence it has its importance in higher education and a number of extracurricular are organized by the department to develop the skills – speech, writing, creativity etc. The department imparts the students what imaginative works mean, by teaching how they mean, by teaching how meaning is embedded in form thereby develop their skills of interpretation. These skills can be articulated in a graded way, starting from micro and heading to macro.

Tamil language plays a vital role in the modern world, which helps people to communicate in proper channel. To enhance, reading and writing skill, which will help in accomplishing the knowledge of creativity.

MISSION

To facilitate the learners to gain knowledge about the structure, potentiality and the grammatical theories of Tamil language, through innovative and modern methods of teaching learners.

To educate the learners on the rudiments and nuances of Tamil language thereby making them linguistically complement.

To install in the learners the social responsibility to sustain and enrich the already existing literature through their contribution.
